Two more Cafe related events to tell you about over half term. First of all, we were able to present the cafe plans at the Youth Network’s Community Eco-Iftar. The event was an opportunity for inter-faith dialogue around the theme of young people’s aspirations. It was great to be able to support the event, meet our Muslim neighbours during Ramadan, and share our dreams for the cafe.
At the end of the week, the community came together in People’s Park for The Big Lunch, a bring and share picnic. Face painting and a cake sale raised £120 towards our crowdfunder, and lots of people signed up for email updates on the project.

It’s been great to gather different perspectives and meet so many people in the area, and we’ll be discussing your ideas at our next council of reference meeting. (That’s a committee with representatives from across the community and a wide range of backgrounds and expertise). The council will be confirming the details of the building ownership over the summer. In the meantime, the design has come together, and we will be consulting with engineers over the services and utilities for the building.
